Double Trouble! – The Stunt Doubles Behind our Favorite Action Stars

Spread the word if you like it! 😉

Big action stars like The Rock and Arnold Schwarzenegger make it seem like there’s nothing they can’t do. We constantly see them jumping off buildings and getting hit by cars, but they’re not really the ones doing the heavy lifting. Whenever things get too dangerous for them to handle, their stunt doubles are ready to step in and do the dirty work.

Hollywood studios would never put the lives of their big stars on the line, and that’s why most of them have someone to help them out when the going gets tough. Body doubles often look like carbon copies of the actors they work with, but with one minor difference – they are more athletic and prepared to rush into danger every single day. Let’s take a look at some of the unsung heroes who helped bring the most iconic action scenes in history to life.

Tom Hardy and Jacob Tomuri

Jacob Tomuri has been doing stunt work since the beginning of the 2000s, but it took him a while to find his true match. Everything changed when a colleague recommended him for a stint on Mad Max: Fury Road, after noticing his passing resemblance to movie star Tom Hardy. They developed a very strong professional relationship, but also had a blast hanging out off-screen. The English actor spoke highly of Tomuri on several occasions and said he pushed boundaries by helping him get in character while filming Legend.

Scarlett Johansson and Casey Michaels

It seems Johansson has a penchant for stunt double families. Her regular double, Heidy Moneymaker, has a stunt double sister, but when she isn’t available the Hollywood star calls on Casey Michaels, who doubled for her on Age of Ultron, and comes from stuntfamily royalty.

Her mother and father, Wayne Michaels and Tracey Eddon, are both stuntpeople who’ve worked on such classics as GoldeneyeMission Impossibleand Harry Potter, and her grandparents, Sadie and Eddie Eddon, did stunts on Tim Burton’s BatmanStar Wars: A New Hope and An American Werewolf in London.

Chris Hemsworth and Bobby Holland Hanton

Bobby did stunts for several Hollywood A-listers, but Chris Hemsworth is his absolute favorite. They’ve been inseparable for years and became besties along the way. It doesn’t come as a surprise, since they have so much in common.
